“A Dream of Cities”, which is an introduction to the poem 'Suona per Te,' offers Hutchison’s reader an insight into his travels around the world that have come to shape him. Hutchison argues that people should be drawn to cities, and, in turn, cities and city centres must “nourish” its inhabitants. 'S U O N A P E R T E' hopes to evoke the spirit of place and how this sense of place has resonated with Hutchinson. While the poem captures the character of Milan, Hutchison also asks his reader to look for the similarities between the Italian city and Glasgow as “a dream of the future.”
